Business is still improving, and looking up in consequence of numerous dray-loads having left this week for the diggings, and the large arrivals -which mny now be especte'l, makes merchants look forward to a very increased deraaad and large business. Sugar, firm; oaH greatly in demand, 'none in the market; brisk enquiry for,tea; draught ?le, very scarce. Messrs Hamilton and Pkoctor Report :— Business rather du)l during the former part of the week, with an improvement towards the close, on account of the ru'h to tne diggings. Young horses, both draught and saddle, are in great demand. We quote as follows : Pat Cattle, from 603 to 65s per 100 lbs; medium, U5 to L 25. Fat Sheep, prime mutton, 40? to 455, averate . 375. Store Cattle enquired for, if brought in small lots, would fetch high prices. Horses: Superior heavy, draught .horses, LSO to L 80; medium and inferior dpi L3o to LSO;. good useful.hacks; L 25 to;Lso.r S»6re "Sheep;" "Imported ewes; 263 to 2&s; wethers, 30s to 355. Enquiries for store stock of all description./..We have sold to-day about 93 heacl mixed cattle* at an average of LU.
