I By the Sea Breeze, which has anticipated the Mail steamer Queen, we have received Melbourne papers to 9th inst., containing the Telegraphic Summitry of the English News by the March Mail. The following is a summary of the news telegraphed by the Adelaide correspondent of the Argus :— ; Adelaide, Friday Morning. The Balclutha arrived at Glenclg, with Adelaide mails, at half-past 7 a.m., after a splendid passage of 91 hotirs. The Peninsular and Oriental Company's steamship Northam arrived at King George's Sound at 7 a.m. on the sth inst. She left Galle on the 20th of April. Captain Ellis, imval agent. Passengers:—For Melbourne—Mrs. Fellowus, Mr. and Mrs. Williamson, Messrs. W. P. White, Archer, Boyle, A. M'Donncll, C. M'Donnell. J. Alrterson; and two in the second class. For Sydney—M. Gallan, Governor of New Caledonia, and lady, M. De Montague, Captain Fisher, Mr. Thomhill, Mr. G. Thomhill, Mr. Scan taw, and three second class. The Australian January mails' were delivered in London on the 17th and 20th March. The Court has returned to -Windsor. Mr. Milnes' hill for legalising marriage with a deceased wife's sister, was thrown out. of the Commons by a majority of thirty-two. The Lord Chancellor has introduced a bill to amend the lunacy laws. In the late elections Government gained three votes, and the Conservatives three. It is thought the election for Longford ofMnjor O'Reilly, late leader of the Irish Brigade, will be rendered void by the intimidation and outrages committed by the priests. One priest prayed before his congregation that God might shorten the days of any of them who should vote for Colonel White. Another, through excitement, while speaking, fell doivn in his chapel in a fit, and has eince died. Fearful outrages said to be committed. Mr. George Pcabody, an American merchant long resident in England, has placed in the hands of trustees £150,000 for distribution among the London poor. The Hartley Colliery Fund has reached £70,000. The firm of Alderman Sir 11. Muggeridge has suspended payment. Liabilities, £200,000." The Commissioners ;of the Great Exhibition have received an intimation from the Washington Government that they do not intend to take any part in the Exhibition. It is said Dickens will shortly visit Australia. £7,000 clear offered for his services for one year". Mr. Duncan /Dunbar, the eminent shipowner, died suddenly. Estimated wealth, one million and a-half sterling. The Government has issued orders that Shanghai and the other treaty ports arc to be protected by naval means from the attacks of the Taepings. Sir Bartle Frere has been appointed Governor of Bombay. Her Majesty's ships Plover and Spartan were wrecked. Few lives lost.' The British Government presented £5,000 to Captain Judkins, of the Canard line, for his exploit iv landing troops in midwinter at Riviere dv Cope.- ' Obituary.—Sir H.
