AMUSEMENTS.

NORTH OTAGO HIGHLAND PIPE BAND. FRIDAY'S CONCERT. The Scotch concert to be "held tomorrow night in the Opera. House' will b'e the most diversifiedly attractive of any yet submitted for the entertainment of patrons in national concerts. The Scottish flavor will predominate, as it should, and the complete programme we publish to-day will give an idea of how thoroughly the public taste has been catered for. Three of the most successful competitors at the Dunadin competitions! will sing. They are Miss Victoria Balk, a mezzo soprano, Mr W. Satterthwaite, a tenor, and Mr Alfred Maitland', a. bass. Another singer whose numbers are looked forward to is Mr D. N. A. Macpherson, a baritone. Mr J. M. Fyfe will sing the "Hundred Pipers," of which he l gives a stirring rendering. Mr G. TV. C Lee's solos, Miss Flora Shaw's Highland dancing programme by established terpsicborean favorites, including herself, humorous items i y Messrs Gordon Donaldson and J. McLean, complete a programme of which even this cursory review is sufficient to inspire confidence' in a wealth of high-class entertainment. The North Otago Highland' Pipe Band is sadly in need of new uniforms', and it has put forth no claims to support' for twenty years in Oamaru. No band could hartbeen more responsive to public- calls,' and none better deserves the helping hand which spells encouragement. A period was put to the band's progress by the War, but now that normal conditions prevail once more, it is determined to increase its membership and advance generally, and with the revival of the Caledonian sports it has become an imperative necessity that the banc should be well furnished. A good hous.is looked for to-morrow night at por- • lar prices. The box plan is open at i % . ? Bristol, no charge for booking.
