CLASSIFICATION OF HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS.

A conference between the Minister of Education and his officers and the head masters aid assistants of secondary schools yesterday discussed the _ matter of classification, and this morning the Minister said a satisfactory recommendation,as to the Basis for a scheme had heen arrived at. Mr Parr added that this morning's conference discussed the method of making appointments, and decided to adhere to the present system. It also decided on the constitution of the Classifying Committee, and laid down that the average throughout the. schools should be one teacher "to 28 children. The Minister . indicated that tinder this proposal he would probably be able-to adjust the matter so as to give, some increase in salaries.
