At the wool sales a. better tone continues for all qualities with the exception of low combing wools. Best- merinos are distinctly harder, and there is improved competition for scoured slipes, with a firmer tendency. Tlh> Bradford market shows a slightly better tone, though it is irregular. Sixty-four's make 132 d, 56's 80d, 50's 62d/ Wheat —The market is quiet, with small allocations on passage and spot. Flour is in good demand, but with little allocated. Oats —The market is dull. -La' Plata's on spot, 595. Beans —The market is quiet, and steady. Peas —The market has an easing tendency. Sugar is unchanged. The Athenic's shipment of New Zealand pears landed in a variable condition, many being soft and wasting. The apples were of excellent quality ana condition, selling up to full control prices. The trade considers them quite equal to the best Australian. ,

THE DUNEMN MARKETS. (Otago Dailj- Times.) There is no milling wheat on offer. Fowl wheat is also off the market, aim poultry keepers have to turn their attention to short oats. The oat market is very irregular. At the beginning of the week inquiries were received from the North Island, mei charts there evidently desiring to fill forward sales. Their orders now appear to b4k filled, and the market is again quiet. Sales of B- Gartons were made to the North Island at the beginning of the week at os IOJd, f.0.b., s.i.. and local merchants are still holding out for these prices, but the best price obtainable to-day is os lOd. A Gartons are being offered at up to 6s, f:o.b.s.n, with no buyers. Offerings from the country are very small. A. few lines have changed hands at 5s to os 2d. on trucks, country sidings, sacks extra. The broken weather has delayed the cutting of chaff, and the local market is a little bare as a result. About £8 10s per ton, sacks extra, ex truck, is now obtainable for good duality. There is also a, better demand for medium at £6 10s to £7 10s per ton, sacks extra, ex: &tore% There.have been,several shipping inquiries, but owing to • lack space no business is at present possible. The potato market continues to drasr, and unless the Australian Government permits shipments to be made from the Dominion the prospects for growers are not too bright. Current- wholesale prices are as follows ; Fowl wheat, 8s 3d per bushel, sacks extra Yverv scarce). Chaff—Prime oaten sheaf, £8 10s; medium £6 10s to £7 10s. - Potatoes. £6 10s, sacks extra, ex truck; medium £5 to £6. Onions, lis per cwt. E»gs—Stamped 2s lid, fresh 2s 8d to 2s 9d. Butters—Milled, hulk, best Is ssd to Is fid; senaratnr-nats. to Is ssd.
