AIREDALE NOTES.

(From Our Own Corespondent.) iliis district has not escaped the devastation of the recent wind which ofttimes assumed the proportions of a gale, tearing roofs off outbuildings and scattering and overturning stacks. In one instance a very substantial roof, 40 % 12ft. was carried and <f&6oejte<J 150 yards away. DeSpitethe inclemency of the weatfieic:on;' Friday evening, Mr Gilchrist's w.bolshed was thronged with dancers, not a few of. whom had journeyed from Oamartt, Ardgowan, Papa£aio, and Enfield. - The M.C. (Mr Burnett) kept the ball rolling, there being but short intervals between the dances, excepting when some vocal item held the audience. Mr -\£l, Cruickshanks dispense edthe music, and extras were playerf by Miss A. Elder, Miss Moore, a, lady from town, and Mr W. Neill. Miss P. Scott and Mr *W. Neill delighted all present with songs, and Mr Acros with a recitation. At 'the conclusion, the President of the Club thanked all those who had assisted in making the evening such ao undoubted success, and his vote of thanks to Mr Gilchrist for the use of the building was carried with lusty cheers. The catering was in the handis of Mr Campbell, Enfield.
