AMUNDSEN RETURNS.

{.By Electric Telegraph—Copykigiit.] (Per Press Association.) (Aiis. and N.Z.'Cable Asan.) Received April 25, at 5.5 p.m: VANCOUVER, April 23.. A wireless message from Anadir, in Siberia, announces that- Amundsen has arrived there. It was reported from Christiania on March 26.that Amundsen was making a dash for the Pole, and had left his ship, the Maude, for tbe dash across the polar icefields, the Maude's equipment included two aeroplanes, which Amundsen proposed using if practicable. Reports from the Maude, however, indicate that she might be expected on that portion of the Siberian coast to which Anadir is the nearest civilised outpost. Received April 26. at 1.30 a.m. LONDON, April 24. The Christiania correspondent of the Times states that Dr Nanseu_ suggests that Amundsen is returning in order to renew his scanty store of provisions, and will possibly restart for the Pole from Barrow. It is unlikely his drift from there will be completed under five years.
