AMUSEMENTS.

HAYWARDS-FULLERS PICTURES

A play that starts off with a street fracas in Hong-Kong, and ends with a whirl in New York, promises plenty of incident. In Ci A Burglar for a Night" (Paralta Plays), this promise is amply fulfilled, for interest doesn't flag for a single minute. A young man comes home from the East to find hi:--father ill in bed and his railroad interests at the mercy of a hand of Stock Exchange raiders. With anothnyoung paladin, who was mixed up with him in a riot in Hong-Kong, he gets into fight, and after taking a course at the Thieves' College, to get familiar with the safe-opening business, turns burglar for a night, and is caught by a woman. The sequel is highly dHmatic. with an unusual twist to th>'> story. J. Warren Kerrigan, as _ihc burglar for the night, has a good strong role, and plays up to the call with- plenty of dash. Supports include a Pa the Gazette. "Captain Gross ;n the Tropics" (Educational), and a Weekly Review.

TO-NIGHT'S SCOTCH CONCERT. An exceptional programme has boon arranged for the grand Scottish concert which takes place in the Onera House to-night. Some of New Zealand's foremost artists, who are specially engaged for the occasion, are coining at great expense to present to the people of Oamaru the talent of their brilliant attainments. The stirring selections of the North Otago Highland Pipe Band will give a big impetus tos the programme —these in themselves will be worth the price of admission. National dancing bv talented children is a sufficient attraction to draw a large house, and the variety of dances to be given will meet with the approval of all. The Highland Fling should prove'a spectacular number, as five local girls have been specially trained for this item by Miss Flora Shaw. The lighter element of things will be well provided for. Humorous sketches, that will cause uproarious laughter, are to be given by that incomparable comedian, Mr J. C. M'Lean. whose irresistible manner compels rapt attention of his hearers. Miss .Tuanita Manhire (gold medallist of Christchurch) will provide much amusement with two humorous recitations. Coming with a great reputation, this little child will doubtless win the hearts of nil. We remind our readers that free reserves can still be obtained at The Bristol for this entertainment, which provides one of the best concert programmes ever presented in Oamaru. Day sales for early doors should he obtained earlv from Messrs A. A. Barsdell, "W. H." Dickson, J. Main, and The Bristol.
