The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated April 20. from the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London : The twelfth series of Government woo! sales commenced yesterday with a lair attendance of buyers and moderate competition. On this occasion there was a large proportion offering coiisuting of New Zealand erossbreds. Coinpared with last sales' closing rates merinos were from 5 per cent, to iu _per cent, cheaper; erossbreds, fine, par to 10 per cent, cheaper: medium and coarse. 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, cheaper, according to condition. One hundred and fifty thousand bales were shown. Of the wools available for the series 61,000 bales are' New Zealaid There are also 43.000 New Zealand available on description. CLEARING SALE. The National Mortgage and Agency Co.. Ltd.. report having held a most successful sale on account of Mr J. Diver. Enfield. Prices received for the. poultry were excellent, top prices being for a pen of six A\ hite Leghorn pullets. readv to lav. 26s 6d each. These birds were of the Diver-Mills strain. Prices realised were: Six pullets 26s 6d, 10 pullets 14s 6d each, 10 18-months •farrah-Mills strain 9s 6d each, 10 at 9s each, 22 (moulting) at 4s 6d each, 10 at 5s each. 21-vear hens 3s 3d each, 21 old hens 2s 6d" pair.
