THE EASTER REGATTA.

s The interest in the Easter Regatta was shown l>y a large attendance in the Borough Council Chambers last evening. Mr K. G. Lane presided. Apologies were received from the Mayor and Messrs .). (J. Snmpter and A .Samson. The secretary reported various offers -of assistance. The Oingo Yacht Club had advised that probably half a dozen firstclass yachts would eotno to Oamaru. and eight motor launches had definitely promised to come. ' The Otago Yacht Club would assist in securing trophies and donations from Dunedin business houses, and would supervise the launch and yacht races from Dunedin lo Oamaru. The Otago Club's prizes were to be supplemented by local prizes. The chairman announced that arrangements were proceeding to have motor-boat races from Timaru to Oamaru and from Meeral.i to Oamaru. The Oamaru Boating Club would supervise the rowing and swimming events, and provide trophies. If was reported that a generous response lo requests for contributions h-.id been met with. .L'-j I odd having been rained in a two days' canvass, which still had mound lo cover.

The following races were fixed up-on:--Yacht race, local fishermen's mo-tor-beat race, motor-launch lace (open), fishermen's 'race from Timaru and Mooraki. and fishermen's final motorboat race, the first and second prize winefs in the previous rnc£ to comlieto. The allocation of the mize-nionoy was held over, in the meantime, but a committee, consisting of Messrs E. G. Lane. A. E. Lawrence. TJoustridse. C. "W. Kent, d.' Todd and D. Thomson, was apoiuted to allocate the prize-money. it was decided to apply 10-the Oamaru Harbor Hoard for the use of Holmes "Wharf on Easter Saturday with the rifdit to make a maximum charge of Is Tor admission.

Several members vrere added to the general committee, and the election of officers was postponed. A special social committee was set up. consisting of Messrs J: Cairns, A. A itken. Andrew Hamilton and ~W. "Wardle.
