OAMARU POULTRY SOCIETY.

Ihe annua] meeting of the Oamaru Poultry Society was well attended at [iartrimi's rooms last night. Mr \Y. I).' Burns presided. Ihe annual report- was as follows: — .1 he committee has pleasure in submitting its 3ot-h annual report. The year has been a- very successful one t-heiv being a credit balance of £l3 Is id. The committee meetings held during tin- year were fairly well attended, more especially by the new members. ,I'he show was held in the Drill Hall on July Mill and 12th and the work of fixing up the stages and pens was again done by a. working bee. The entries totalled' 246. This was very satisfactory considering the railway trouble ai. the time as a. very large number of fanciers from other centres who had intended competing for the shield were debarred from showing, through fhe trouble. The South Island Poultry Association's challenge shield was competed tor at- the show and was won by the Ashburton Society who practically had the cjasses on their own. The utility section . comprised the bulk of the show all the classes beingwell filled, a few classes were put in tor eggs and drew a few entries.

A slieop weight <rue.ssing was held and proved very profitable. The committee desire to thank the proprietor of the City Meat Company for the loan of the sheep. A social was held on the first night of the show and a very successful function was held. The col»mittee also desire to thank the following gentlemen for donations to the juii(js:—A. (1. Creagh, W. The society's assets now total £9:5 7s. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of iM.'S Is 7d.
