MISSING LAUNCH SIGHTED.

Peh Pnv.ss Association. WANGANUI, November 3. The steamer Tropic reports having slighted the fishing lauch Kingfisher, about which fears were entertained, six miles south-east, of the river entrance. The launch signalled she had lost her rudder, requesting to be reported. Arrangements were made with a lighter to pick up the launch. The sea is still very heavy. The launch Kingfisher, reported overdue with a crew of four men on board, was located to-day at anchor, off the coast, six miles south of Wanganui, by the Home- steamer Tropic The crew of the launch signalled that, the little vessel was disabled through losing her rudder, but up to to-night the sea has been too rough for a coastal steamer to go to the rescue, but the Tropic-is now standing 'by, and as the weather is moderating, it is expected the launch crew will soon be taken off. It has been ascertained that when the Kingfisher left, on a fishing trip last Thursday there was only a day's provisions on board, and it is thought the crew have suffered (otisidorabld privations. The Home steamer Karamea, which put to sea. in company with the Tropic, on Sunday night, on account of the tempestuous weather, is still keeping out in the strait.
