DUNTROON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

After a long spell of dry, windy weather a change took place on Sundaj. About 11 a.m. a. nice rain set in, and about 4 p.m. it turned to snow and it must have snowed most, of the night. At 10 p.m. we measured 4J inches. Up to the time- the snow started we registered 56 points of rain, and a further 86 points at 9 a.m. on Monday! morning. Total, 142 points. We wanted the change badly, for the land was cracking, and this will right things about here. There have been a lot of trees broken down by the weight of the snow. For the month of October the rainfall was 56 points, and wo are now a good bit above the average rainfall of the last few years. Last Friday evening a pleasant meeting took place (at tho Presbyterian Church to bid farewell to Mr Alex. Beck, of Tokarahi. Mr Beck has been a great help to the parish and a great relief to the minister in this extensive circuit. Rev. A. Sangster spoke very feeliuglv of the good qualities of Mr Beck and also of tho work of Mrs and Miss Beck, who have been carrying on the Sunday School at Tokarahi. He. said their help aiid good influence would be sadly missed in the parish. Several others spoke eulogising Mr and Mrs Beck and their family's good qualities. Mr "W. Yardley. on behalf of the congregation, presented them with a travelling nig and Bible as a. token of gratitude and respect. Mr Beck suitably responded. The school will be holding their concert next week. As the children are giving the greater part of the programme it is intended to make a punctual start. A good many telephone wires have been broken by the snow.
