Replying to Mr Forbes, the Priino Minister said he was afraid he would not be. able to finish the business, of Parliament and close the session this week. He thought it would probably be, Tuesday before the members would get awav. The Native Lands Claims Adjustment Bill (the Hon. W. H. Herriosi was read a second time pro forma. The War Legislation Amendment BiH (the Hon. A. L. Herdman) was introduced and read a first time.

The House then proceeded to deal with a number of local Bills. In the Foxton Harbor Board Amendment Bill, the Prime Minister moved a new clause, having for its purpose the preservation of the celebrated laud mark known as "Round Bush." Mr Field said he was Just as anxious as anyone to see the bush preserved, but he pointed out that this clause deprived the Board of certain portions of the Board's endowment, and he asked the Prime Minister to give an assurance that the area thus reserved would be made up to the Board elseThe Prime Minister said he could not give any such assurance. The clause was agreed to. In the Christchurch Milk Supply and Markets Amendment Bill, Hon. Mr Russell said the measure was of a revolutionary character, and he moved a new clause that it shall not come-into force until the -ratepayers have approved of the same at a, poll. The clause was reiected by 22 to 19. The Bill was reported without amendment. The House agreed, on the motion of the Minister, to the report of the conference on the Sale of Liquor Restriction Bill. The House rose at 12.5 a.m.
