THE WOOL PURCHASE.

(Special to the Oa.ma.ru Mail.) "Wellington, January 11. Thfirst valuations of New Zealand wool under th<> Imperial purchase Echeme will result in the producers' receiving £1,300,000.' The money has been distributed evenly from Christchurch to Auckland'.
About 90,000 bales have been valued, half of which has been shipped. Tliisi represents n little oyer one-fifth of .th® estimated' total season's clip. Mr MacDonald 1 , Minister for Agriculture, states that the valuation figures: have worked out close to expectations. <!h both sides. The woolgrowers appeal' to have been very satisfied, and' in connection -with 23,000 bales included; in the last valuation at- Wellington there were practically no disputes or appeals. There'were a few appeals in Dunedin, where a very large valuation was held, but only one was substantiated. A number of appeals were, lodged in Christchurch, but they were settled, without much difficulty. In Auckland arrangements are going on satisfactorily, wiih practically no appeals. There have been only two or three appeals at Gisborhe, but they will probably be withdrawn ; when a proper explanation is mad'e by the supervising valuer.
