TAPANUI RACES. (Per Press Association.) Gore. January 11. Tlie Tapanui Racing Club : s meeting was concluded to-day in very warm weather, and there was a. fairly large attendance. During the day £5*649 10s went through the machine, making a total of £12,531 10s for the meeting, as against £3502 last year. The greatlyincreased stakes will probably make the club a. loser over the .meeting. The ■course was granted free by the Gore Racing Club. An inquiry was held into a. charge of bumping, and l J. Wallis, who was on the carpet, gave an explanation that was accepted. Take Down got knocked back to last place in the iTrst furlong, and! Pl'acid and Cannot led into the straight.
