Preparations have been completed for celebrating the tercentenary of Shakespeare in the Anglo-Saxon centres throughout the world. The celebrations will commence in Britain on the 30th with a service in the Abbey, when a Shakespeare sermon will be preached: there will be a Mansion House meeting on the Monday; an allwar performance of Julius Caesar at Drurv Lane on Tuesday; the schools will celebrate the poet on 'Wednesday: and Friday will be devoted to a pilgrimage to Stratford. The celebration will terminate: with a meeting at the London University. Mr Birrell will address the Authors' Club on the Bth. The war has rendered it impossible to find funds for a Shakespeare Memorial Theatre near- the British Museum, for which £70.000 had been subscribed, and the site has been given over for entertainment huts for the soldiers.
