A PLUCKY YOUTH.
Per Press Association. I "Auckland. January 21. Reference to the braverv of one of the boys concerned in the'sad boating fatality off Preston's Beach, Point Chevalier, on W ednesdav,- was made by the Coroner, Mr E. C.' Cutten, S.M.'. at the inquest concerning the death cf Raymond Preston, 15 years of age, son of Mr James Preston, of Dominion Road. In addition, Mr Cutten decided to write a letter to the boy's father, praising the boy for his conduct. A verdict was returned that Raymond Preston died from drowning while endeavoring to save his two vo i} ny e r brothers. '
"The. little hoy Jack Preston," said the Coroner, "deserves an especial word of commendation. He is only 11 years of age. .and rather small for his' age. but it was due to his intelligence and bravery that the lives of two other boys were saved. Although these boys were not much smaller than himself, he succeeded in keeping hold of both "of'them. and supported them until they were rescued from a boat from the shore.
