ELECTION PETITIONS.
Feu Press Association. Wellington. January 22. Tile petition of I\lr Wilson, the defeated candidate ior Tnuiiianinui, alleges that while 7!tl 7 votes were declared by the returning; officer there are only 7640 votes accounted -for by marked roils ami other votes legally rei ceivable ; tha;) 30 persons received l>alI lot- papers at two polling places; that certain persons eligible to vote, were denied the right; that others not eligible actually voted; that the names of certain persons of whom some were aliens but naturalised, and others under the legal .age were placed on the roll; that Sir Jennings himself was not duly registered, because his name appears in Ta-umanmui, and he is nota resident of the Tmimarunui district-, The petitioner also alleges irregularities at four polling boots, in -conse- i quence of which it is asked that flic Court fl) order a scrutiny and recount, I (2) thai, it be determined that 'Mr Jennings is not elected, and (3) that the election he declared ;void. The petition will be heard at the February sitting of the Court in New Plymouth.
