Vancouver, July 18. The Immigration Department lias ordered the captain of the Komagata to leave the harbor with the Hindu passengers. AYhen the order for deportation was made out. Captain Y'amamato tried to rai.se steam, but the Hindus attacked the captain with clubs and obliged him to- leave the Komagata. Tin;" owners and agents warned the Hindus that they would bring the police aboard the .steamer and conduct tliem outside the three mile limit and leave them to starve or find their way back liome.

The Hindus defied the authorities, until their passages were refunded, and a. supply of provisions granted. The deadlock continues. Received July 20, at 1.5 a.m. Vancouver, July 19. The Hindus on the Komagata -beat off two hundred police and immigration officials, when the- latter endeavored to tow the Komagata seaward. Several of the police were wounded' and some of the Hindus were shot, but it is not thought that there were many fatalities.
