TENNIS NOTES. Brookes. Wilding, Doust, and Dunlop have booked their passages by the Aqnitania, which leaves England tor America on the 11th inst. They will arrive in the States on the 18th, and the first Davis Cup tie against Canada U down to commence on either the 23rcl or -;> 4th of the present month at Chicago. Britain is playing Belgium this we"ek, and the success of its team is assured bv the victories of Parke and Alnvroaordato in the singles. As Germain- has given France a bye, the French team will probably proceed to America and play British Isles either at New York or Philadelphia. De Boiman whom Mavrogordato beat recently in three straight sets, was in the Belgium team which beat France in 1904, and he played against Canada last sea-son. . , . The American championships begin earlv in August—before the Davis Cup challenge round is played. If the British and French teams are beaten m their Davis Cup ties they can recompense themselves bv trying to win the l' S.A. championships. Tt is said that Brookes will not take part, but will hold himself in reserve for the Cup contests.
