Eight comrades starteel off at five yesterday afternoon, to carry liim a- long toilsome journey o.vei Bteep mountainous country to Raunrnu, When they had proceeded five miles tlier secured a trap, but this broke clown owing to. tlie rough nature of the country, and they had to abandon it. They continued the march, sometimes through dense bush, _ at times over rough clearings of piled-up logs and frequently Tip to their knees in mud. The night- was bitterly cold, and the .darkness of the bush was a great handicap. The whole party was frequently stumbling over logs, missing their footing. and being precipitated_ down the .slopes. Worn out and fatigued they reached Rauriinu at eight this morning, where Worslev was placed on n train and conveyed to Hamilton Hospital.
