France moved to abolish tithes and leave tl\© Welsh Church all other funds- , ■ Mr Herbert Gladstone supported this as a compromise niul to settle the strife. Mr M'Kenna did not believe thai the Opposition would accopt it in .that spirit. He saad that if the amendment were accepted he would drop the Bill. The Hou. Alfred 1 Lytteltoii frankly admitted that the amendment was unacceptable.
