THE NORWOOD. AND YON ARX COMBINED SHOWS. At the Dresden the box plan is open for the performance of the Norwood and Yon Afx Combined Shows, which will appear at the Opera House on Monday next. Professor Everett Norwood is a hypnotist and mesmerist. By his arts, volunteers from the audience are made to appear in the most laughablesituations. His specialities are "The Hypnotic Circus," and "Down- on the Levee." Mr Alan M'Elivairi, laconteur, monologui.st, and. mimic, is a performer of considerable merit. Mr George, Murphy, comedy juggler, is sa.id to be one of the cleverest performers in his iiive who has over appeared: before a New Zealand audience. Yon, Arx is a marvellous magician, handcuff king and wonderful escape a;tist. In Auckland. ex-Police DoteTctivo Bailey challenged Yon Arx to escape after-he had handcuffed him to the railings of the Albert Park. The challenge was accepted, ami in the presence of a dense throng <>c spectators Von Arx was able to effect an easy ciseapc. Ex-Police Detective Bailey has handcuffed, many notorious criminals, and he freely admitted that Vim Arx had more l than outwitted him and' beaten him in a very holkrv fashion. Von Arx is a brother of Nicola. HAYWARDS' PICTURES. To-night the management promises another programme of good items. Two' pictures, "The Cheat" and "The Halfbreed's Daughter" are star items. The former is by the Gaumont Company, and is a story of two army officers. The story from start to finish is fascinating. "The Half-breed's Daughter" is by the Yitigr.aph Company, and comprises another excellent .story, which is set in magnificent scenery. "Sea Life" is a scientific subject, anel Pathe's English Gazette comprises a budget of interesting newsi. "The, Visitor" is a- good story, while "An Unpleasant Surprise," "Beware of Laggie." anel "Who Got- the Reward" are really good humorous subjects. Besides these mentioned others will heshown, with pleasing musical items. This evening's programme should prove a big draw.
