SWORE AT THE MAYOR.

(Per Press Association.) Cambridge, June 11. A- local tradesman, Thomas T. Richards was lined £1 and 34s costs at Cambridge Court to-day for using almsive language towards the Mayor, Mr G. Dickinson. Richards wanted a licen.se for a new hall for picture entertainments, but the Borough Council withheld the license pending legal requirements. Thinking that the Council did not want an opposition hall to thentown hall Richards then swore at the Mavor in the street. The Mayor explained that it was not, a- vindictive action, but on., taken -simply to protect himself in his public capacity. Iho Magistrate remarked that public men required to be protected.
