There was a gathering of the friends of Mr and Mrs'J. B. Grave, who are about to leave on a, visit to Australia.,, at Claremont, the residence of Mr and Mrs Patrick Kelly, North Road, last i>i<dit, to wish a pleasant holiday and present "to them some token of the esteem in which they arc held by their friends. Amongst those pvesent were Mrs and Miss Delargv, of Hakataramea; Mr and Mrs Rooney. Air and Mrs Hannon, Miss M'Phc?, and a number of others. The Rev. Father Farthing, presented Mr Grave, 1 on behalf of lus friends,- with a .silver-mounted dressing case and a set of brushes. In making the presentation, Father Far--' thing "spoke of Mr Grave's sterling qualities, of his generosity and kind heartedness. It was always a. . great pleasure to meet "Bert" Grave and to do business with him. Mr P; Kelly presented " Mrs Grave with a set of silver-mounted brushes .suitably inscribed and a travelling rug. SeveraT others present added their good wishes, and expressed their esteem for Mr and Mrs Grave;. Durin" tho evening- songs were sung bv Mrs Hannon. and Misses M'Pliee. and Delargv.- Air and Mrs Grave leave for. Australia- this week.
