Some discussion took place on the advisability of continuing for another year the field competitions that had heen conducted. The Chairman thought that they should he continued. Mr T. S. Little moved and Mr J. M'Culloch seconded a motion that the competitions be continued. This motion was carried, and a vote of thanks was passed to all those who had helped with the competitions. Mr Gardiner drew the attention of the meeting to the fact that very few members had competed in the competrtons, and it was unanimously agreed that all members be asked to compete in the field competitions. . The Chairman reported that himself and Mr Livingstone had waited upon the Minister for Agriculture in regard to a State farm in the Oamaru district. The replv thev received was that he would await a report from the Departmental officers--before taking action hi the matter. This was all the deputation had to sav on .the subject. The meeting discussed a notice of motion tabled at last meeting by Mr Little that honorary members be allowed to vote as ordinary members and be notified of all meetings. Mr Little thought that it this motion were carried it would allow of men who could be of great help to the Society being present. The honorary members might come to a meeting to defeat a motion supported by all the other members by voting against- it if they were given a vote." According to rule three it seemed to him that they could not give the honorary members a vote unless the rules of the Association were alwhich would have to be done at a- special meeting. Mr M'Culloch thought that the honorary members would not greatly value the power of voting. He suggested that they he invited to attend meetings and given notice of each meeting, but not have power to vote. The motion was amended on Mr M'Culloch's suggestion aiid carried.
