DEATH OF MR E. BUTT.

~ (From Our Glenavy Correspondent.) The residents of Glenavy mourn the •loss, "of one who has always - taken a keen interest in local affairs. Mr Butt came to jNew Zedr land in the ship Waipa in 1875, and 10 Glenavy 27 years ago, as an employee ot the Railway Department. He retired on superannuation four years ago, and lias since resided in his beautiful home near the township. The late Mr. Butt was of an active disposition, and when not employed in outdoor physical labor he devoted his time to art needlework. Some of his work gained fust-class awards at the various exhibitions held in the colonies, the design "l'lags of the Nation" being especially good. As ail active member ot the Glenavy School Committee he was mainly responsible for the planting of the trees which now afford such excellent shelter. As a token of esteem the school tlag was flown at half-mast yesterday. Mr Butt leaves a widow, two daughters, and two sons to mourn his loss, having previously buried one son and three daughters. Mr Butt was a member of the Masonic and Druids' Societies.
