OTAGO v. OAMARTJ. The Otago B representative team which met Oamaru on Saturday was a , good eleven and an eleven which had had the advantage of some eomhined match practice, so that Oamaru have . cause for congratulation in that after a verv close game they were defeated only bv five goals to fonr, the deciding point being a penalty goal for obstruc-
tion in a penalty bully. Jn the first spell Otago attacked with vigor, and thei superior combination of the visiting forwards, \vith an absence of Lard hitting in the local backs gave Otago four goals before Oamaru scored. But before the spell ended Oamaru forwards had a chance and hustled the ball into th_e net. In the second half the local backs improved their play, Monson especially doing much vigorous hitting.' By constant hammering .scores were brought to ) four —three. Then with but five minute-; to go Otago were awarded a penalty goal. With a last effort Oamaru scored again and, but for an unfortunate mischance, M'Douall would have made the game a draw. As it was the whistle went with the home forwards on the attack but still wanting one goal to even the game For Oamaru Clark, Grenfell. A'itken. and M'Douall scored: and for Otago Hogg (2) and Penman (2). Air Jarman was an excellent referee.
