They only wish to depose the Sultan, a brutal tyrant, who cuts off his victims' hands and : plunges the stumps in boiling water, causes tongues; to be. cut out, gouges out eyes, draws out teeth, and throws men into dens of wild beasts. The Sultan of Morocco has despatched a further urgent request to thei French for assistance, declaring that the situation in .the city is becoming daily more critical. . ~ General Brulard's artillery dispersed the attacking tribesmen, he continuing his march meanwhile. Constant skirmishes are taking place in the vicinity of the camp at the mouth. of the Sebu River, which passes close to the beleaguered city. Convoys from Mehodia attacked the camp, but French artillery and gaUaiit charges by Spahis repulsed the tribesmen. ' -
