AN OPPOSITION LIEUTENANT.
(Per Press Association.) Hokitika, May 12. Mr W. H. Herries, M.P., delivered a political address here this evening, when he was accorded a good reception. I lie Mayor presided? He outlined the policy of the Opposition, and criticised the administration of the present Government, including the financial operations or bir J G Ward. Referring to the native land question, lie said his party were in favor of the individualisation of the titles of each native by area. Mr Herries alleged a need for reform -m the Upper House, the members to he elected by the people instead ot the Prime Minister appointing them The .necessity for a Local Government Bill and mining and other matters were also referred to by Mr Hemes, who at the conclusion of his address was accorded a vote of thanks. ■
