THE DOMINION'S FINANCES.

I (Per Press Association.) | Wellington, May 11. I Details of the Dominion's finances for [ the year ending 31st March, 1911, appear in to-night's Gazette. The principal items were mado public by the Hon. J. A. Millar at Dune'din last Tuesday, but- these may. be supplemented a little. The Naval Defence Act account shows that £1,120,250 has been received of the loan of £1,250,000, and the authorised expenditure has totalled" £489,289; the loan charges were £431, leaving a balance of £630,529. The native lands settlement account shows that £181,600 was received from the State Guaranteed Advances Office, the amount expended under the Act was £135,334, and after providing for sinking fund there is a , balance .of £44,322 in hand. For -the settlements account the principal receipts were: .Balance at the beginning of the year, £202,385; rents, etc., front estates, £271.19.0, making, with smaller items,, a total />f £663,640. The amount sjjerit during the year in the purchase of estates was £185,790, and the expenses connected with these and other estates previously purchased amounted to £16,720. The interest' paid to the consolidated fuiid in respect of debentures issued alisorbed £224,037, and the sinking fund £59,079. The balance at the end of the year was £53,397.. The principal estates purchased and the amoitnts paid . were: Allanholme £24,150, Aviemore £950, Clandehoyc £14,476, Clahdchoye No. 2 £8192, Drayton £21,296, Hornby £3695, Kohika No. 2 £6397, Meadows £13,651, Raupuua No. 2 £39,822. Stoke £18,137, Wnitnkarurii No. 5 B £6522.
