AN APPLE SCOURGE.

(Per Press Association.) Melbourne, May 11. Dr Jean White and Professor Ewart, of Melbourne University, are believed to have discovered the cause of bitter <"pit iii apples. It is supposed to result Ifroin certain spray used to destroy the <;odlm moth. The scientists are cautious, but sufficient reliance is placed on the discovery- to justify the. postpone'mentof the Federal State investigation, on which it was intended to expend ten thousand.
