THE NEW RAILWAY REGULATIONS.

To the Editor.

Sir, —Surely our farmer friends are not going' to tolerate the new railway regulations which came into force on the Ist inst. We on the Kurow branch have been in the habit, for the past 80 years, of getting our goods brought forward when ordered, but now we have only two days per week on which our goods may be railed. Last Friday I ordered a few sacks of ryecorn, to be forwarded at once, and was informed that Mondays and Tuesdays were the only days on which goods could be forwarded to our station. Now, sir, I think it is very hard that a farmer should have to keep his team idle for so many days awaiting the arrival of his grain to sow. As a matter of fact the grain has not been forwarded even np to this date. Surely our Minister of Railways does not understand the wants of the farming community, although all right-thinking politicians admit that the farmers are the backbone of the country. It seems to me that our railways are not made to suit the people, but vice versa: the people have to suit themselves to the railways. I hope our Chamber of Commerce and Agricultural and Pastoral Association will take this matter up and have it properly threshed out with the Railway Department.— I am, etc., _ AWAMOKO.
