The method 'of- paying the 500 employees .at shops, which has- been' taken exception to by the men, was the subject of a meeting at iidon to-day .'in the workshops ground, wher.e..about three hundred men assembled to..devise a means of.overcoming the difficulty. Hitherto the members, signed, the paysij'iipt on Thursday, , and received the monev 011 Friday, but ..they claim that the method of paving 500 men in. about fifteen minutes does not allow them to check the cash , and 'dissatisfaction has arisen, because two men were short paid, and received an unsympathetic reply to their protest that they should have, examined their pay before leaving the pav window. I? the\ made a passive protest by examining their pay. as directed, hut the process of paying out occupied. about an hour and a-half. and the men felt that some better method should be adopted. _ . The following motion was carried unanimously: ''That this meeting of workshops employees at- Addington respectfully urges the General. Manager to issue instructions that every man_ be handed, his pa.v at the time, of signing the receipt for it!"
