Christchurch, May 6. Elsie Joan Atkinson, for whom Mr A. S. Taylor appeared, pleaded' guilty to the theft on May 3rd, at Christchurch, of £4 10s in money and a gold ring, valued at £6 10s, the property ot Florence Bilteliff. Mr Taylor said accused's parents and Mends had done all they could for her, hut she was morally deficient. Chief Detective Bishop said accused; had heen in the habit of borrowing money and not repaying it. She had. been at Mrs BiltefifPs house, and saw the money lying there. She had left the house hut had come hack and broken into it and removed the money. Accused was ordered to he at Lyttelton gaol for two years for reformatory treatment, and to he kept apart from the prisoners.
