A CONSIGNOR'S LIABILITY.

(Per Press Association.) , Invercargill, May 5. A reserved judgment was given by Mr Cruickshank, S.M., to-day m the case of Mackerras and Hazlett v; W. Bartlet, of Wright's Bush, a_ case involving rather an interesting point. The claim was for £1 2s 3d, the value of a consigiimeiit of goods "which, it.was stated l had been forwarded to the Railway Department, but had gone astray in transit from Bluif to Wright's Bush. The magistrate held that delivery to a common carrier (in this case the Railway Department) constituted delivery to the purchaser, and his Worship gave judgment for the amount claimed, with costs amounting to a guinea.
