POPULATION OF WELLINGTON.
(Pee Pbess Association.) Wellington, April 26. The census returns for Wellington and district show that the city proper gained 5713' in population since 1906, while Wellington and subiirbs, not including Petone and Hntt and the adjacent, districts, .have gained 8066. The detailed figures, with a comparison of those declared after the census of 1906, are as follows: .
It will be seen -that there is an apparent decrease in population in Onslow and Karori. The explanation is that portions of these' boroughs have been included in the city since 1906. The Makara County and Upper Hutt Town District did not exist in 1906. The increase in Wellington and suburbs has Averaged over 1200 per year.
