WANGANUI CALEDONIAN SOCIETY. ' (Per Press Association.) Wangamii, January 23.,, The Wanganui Caledonian Society held their twenty-eighth annual sports to-day in glorious weather. The sporfs were a great success, the attendance being a record. The takings at the gate were £ls better tlian any previous record. The meeting was truly Caledonian, there being a record attendance of pipers and dancers. The pedestrian events were very interesting. Opie put up a New Zealand amateur record of 12sec for the 120 Yards. In two heats this event was run in 11 3-ssec, but a doubt was expressed as to the reliability of the time.

The chief prize-winners of the piping and dancing were:-Marches, F. Finlayson ; strathspeys and reels, J. Cameron; Highland • fling, J. M'Kechnie;' sword dance, R. M'Kechnie; Reel o' Tulloch, A. ■ Kilgour; seanntruibhas, Jaffray. The wrestling events were won by Alec. Bain. There was an excellent concert in the evening, at which there was a record attendance.
