STRANGE DROWNING.

(Peb Press Association.) Brisbane January 23. The bodies of three firemen —Hall, Saddler; and Martin—belonging to the steamer Waipawa. were found in the river. How the drowning liappeued is unsolved. They were seen about town during the day, ancTthen disappeared. Received -January 24, at 10.20 a.m. :' Brisbane, January 24. The three men who were drowned boarded the steamer Manila instead of the. They were, directed to the proper wharf, and made towards the water. Hill walked straight in, Martin went to his assistance, and Sadler subsequently went after the others,' all struggling together in deep water. Dunn; from another steamer, plunged in;: but the men pulled him under almost drowning'him, so. that he had a struggle to free himself. . Then the others sank. When the bodies were recovered .they were locked together. .
