MAGISTRATE'S COURT, WAIMATE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The following cases were heard at the Wainiate Court on Tuesday, before Mr T. Hutchison, S.M.: — —Alleged Sunday Trading.— A Simpson, licensee of the Redchft Hotel, was charged with selling liquor on Sundav, 11th September. -Mr Hanlon (Dunedin), with Mr Perry, appeared for tho defendant. Sub-inspector Green conducted tho prosecution. Daniel Brecu and Sydney Glossop {rave evidence in support.of the charge. T. - Delahunte, Elizabeth Simpson, and Isabella O'Connor gave evidence for and with defendant. The case was dismissed'. . . —Unlawful Duck-Shooting Thomas Loach was charged with shootins; native game on October 25th dxiring the close season. Mr Middletou appeared on behalf of the Acclimatisation Society. After .hearing evidence, the j defendant was fined £2 and costs £2 8s 4d. —Civil Cases . Judgment by default was given in tho following cases: — '• A. S. Jones and Co. v.. James Jordan, £4 Is 7d, costs -18s. - . C. D. Taafe v. Jas. Smith, £3 Is, costs lis - ' C. D. Taaffe v. Hoffman, £1 12s 3d, Me vers and Jones (Mr Middletou) v. T Twomev, claim £93 14s 3d. In this case £3O had been paid, and judgment 'was given for the balance £63 14s 3d, and costs £4 3s.
