Wellington, November 9. —Ministers' Replies.— An assurance is given by the Minister of Railways, in reply to a question, that legislation will bo introduced "this session to enable workers with £lO to acquire their own homes on easy terms. It is %ot correct, says the Minister of Agriculture, that tho Little Barrier Island has been without a caretaker for six months. The Into caretaker died suddenly at Little Barrier about six weeks ago, and* arrangements have now been concluded for his successor. One of the luckiest inventions in history" was barbed wire. Isaac Ellwood, of Illinois, the inventor, made the first barbed wire to keep out his "neighbors pigs. . It succeeded, and he protected his idea.
