Now York, -November 9. Mr Dix, the Democrat elected Governor of New York State, defeated Mr Stimson, the Roosevelt nominee. This is a great blow to the- Republican party. Mr Roosevelt conducted a campaign for a month in aiding Stimson, and he declares that the realignment of the parties is necessary, the Republicans going through tho agony of becoming progressive. , Mr Roosevelt rested at homo throughout 1 the day, and ordered no election news to-be sent to him-. The k Democrats are still gaming numerous victories, and their control of the House of Representatives is assured-. - Speaker-Cannon has been re-elected. The Democrats swept Chicago. Women's suffrage has wins in Washington State, and the • Prohibitionists claim ma iiy victories. *
