Wright (Moderator of Synod), and a previous minister of the .Church, officiated. : In the morning the preacher spoke on the words "I have learned from experience" (Gen. xxx. 27). He prefaced his sermon by stating that knowledge ' was gained in the thporetieal and practical schools, and that .practical' knowledge was the best. As in the natural world, so it is in the spiritual world- —we must have practical knowledge <if Spiritual' matters. The' following heads were taken and treated very lucidly, viz.: The reality of religion, the Divine, origin of God's Word, the power of prayer, the joy of Christian service and Christian life. The evening text was: "His eye seetli every precious thing" (Job xxviii, 10). There was a good congregation of young people, who listened with marked attention to a homely discourse, on the omniscience of God. At both services the', prayers and hymns were all appropriate for the occasion.
