Five applications weio leceived foi the position of suifaceman of the Dunback distuct, Mr Wm Pctt being appointed Acgoiultc amounting to £143 7s od were passed for -payment: T l :o road inspector icpcitod on the works in progress in the several ridings. r lhc report v?s> lcconed. Councillor O'Neill having given notice of motion to lescmd the Council's resolution to amalgamate the offices of cleik and inspector, Councillor. Plnhp seconded the motion. Councillor O'Neill, speaking to the motion, contended that tho resolution to amalgamate iias carried -without due consideration Tho Council pi oposed to cubage a man at £250 pei annum in* substitution fox t\i_o lehable men at £2SO. Ho contended-that the appaient saving ot £4O did not -warrant the change. .' The motion was generally and for the most part, heatedly discussed, and was eventually lost by 5 to 3. Applications ■will now be invited by advertisement for the dual position of county cleik and load inspector at a salary of £250 por annum.
