A meeting k of the Council was adjourned, reports a local newspaper, at 8.30 p.m. to'enable councillors to attend the Anglican mission being conducted there" b> tJic Rev. C. Heplier. The motion to adjourn was" only earned on division, and tiic cilloi l csigned hi*- seat as a protest against the business ol the borough be- i I ing hung up for the sake of any'mission. The opponents of the motion contended i that, had the mission been under the auspices of any other denomination than the Anglican, the resolution.would never have been brought forward. A letter has been received in Dunedin from the official delegates appointed for Australia and New Zealand in connection with the North of France Exhibition, to'be-held in Roubaix in .1911-. Writing from Adelaide, he stated that when in London be had bad an interview with Sir William Hall-Jones on the question of New Zealand being represented ■at the Exhibition, and the suggestion was most enthusiastically- re■eived. The Australian Government, he added, bad already voted .£ISOO towards the cost of an exhibit from Australia, and the hope was expressed that the New Zealand Government would see its way to do soinethir" r on sim-lnr lin<*s. The wisdom of New Zealand being represented at the based on the fact that a very large percentage of the Dominion's wool clip finds its way to France, and Roubaix is one of the woollen centres of that country.
