Auckland, October . 7 As the result of an unrehearsed episode at the Tivoli Theatre on Tuesda\, the manager of that house of-enter-tainment, Fabian D'Lisle, w*lio is known under the stage name of Hal Dayne, was chai ged at the ■ Police Court to da\ with assaulting- Pat Reece comedian, the lattei praying that defendant be bound over to keep the r#,ace It was stated that Reece had left' the theatre on Monday last, and when he went to get some wages that were due to him, Dayne said he did not owe the wages, .whereupon' Reece said,- "You' are a liar:" This was the only, provocation given, and defendant" being something of a pugilist "hauled off" and.struck complain-ant-three-severe blow-.?,--one blackening his eye. For the defence it- was alleged that the complaiiiaiit used . bad language, and had endeavored to get the other artists to joifi" in the strike.
