OTAGO HORSE PARADE.

North Otago figured largely at the Otago Horse Parade yesterday, particularly in the draught' section, therefore, this" district may take to itself much of the. praise bestowed by Mr J no. Grant, one of the draught liorso judges, who stated that he did not think there was ever a better class of draughts brought together on Tahuna Park. Twenty-five horses turned out in the aged draught stallion class, and 11 survived, the initial parade. 'The judges their" final selection from AVint'ersheugh Hero, Relief, Baron Everest. Baron Fyvie, Agitation, Black Knight,' and Major Stewart, and last year's winner, Barou Fyvie, again secured the coveted honor of first, with Baron Kvcrest second, and Major Stewart third. The winner is. a ■mas-sively-built horse, with plenty of qualitv. Baron Everest is also a fine .stamp of'stallion. Mr Grant said that Baron Fyvie won all round on points—conformation, quality, and movement. The other judge, .Air Oughtou, remarked that Baron Fyvie was a very evenlymade, well-balanced horse. In the three-year-old draught stallions there were 11 competitors, Air James AVeir. of Papakaio, securing first with Karl Stewart, Huntley's Best second, Royal Carriole third. Mr Grant considered that the three placed horses will develop into good stallions later on. Earl Stewart is a fine-looking horse, with plenty, of quality, good action, and line conformation. For the Otago Challenge Cup. which is presented by members for competition amongst stallions three years old and upwards which have been examined and passed by a duly qualified veterinary surgeon on the day preceding the day of competition as free from hereditary unsoundness, there were 15 entries in this class, Baron Fyvie being awarded the championship, with Karl Stewart as reserve champion. The veterinary examination ' was made by the Government veterinary .surgeons. Messrs Kerrigan and Johnson.
