NORTHERN UNION FOOTBALL. (Per Press Association.) Invercargill, September 28. •.The match between the Northern. Union representatives and Southland was played to-dav in perfect weather, and before about 1500 people. Auckland, whose fiacks were superior, and who generally showed a better 'knowledge of the'game, won by 17 to 12. Play was very fast and' exciting, and the'scores at half-time were 0 to 3 hi Auckland's favor. With a few minutes to go Southland was only two points behind, but the Auckland backs got over the line again just on time. A special feature of the game was the goal kicking of M-Dei-molt, the Southland back, who placed four goals_ out of four attempts, some from difficult angles. The Ancklanders were entertained to-night, and leave in the morning for Dnnedin, where they play a combined Otago and Southland team on Saturday. . ]
