OAMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Last night's meeting of the Oanlaru fScrough Council was attended by the Mayor (J\lr It. Miiligan), Councillors Searle, Clarke, Vernor, "Keys, Miller, l'ateison, Grave, and Mitchell. ■ -i Leave of absence was granted to Councillors Brown and Frith. John Terry and Co.. of London, ad-* vised that Messrs - George Waller and Son had paid the Council's claim of £2 12s. —Received. The Oamaru Harbor Board advised the Council that the area at the outlet of the open drain which runs along the eastern side of the railway goods yard is shortly to be reclaimed, and they requested that provision be immediately made, for a sewer and proper discharge therefrom. —Engineer- asked to. furnishreport to Works Committee, which- will consider the matter- and report to the Council. P. Eraser, water-race inspector, reported having made arrangements for ilie cartage over Mr Douglas' property at Ardgouan of material for Grant's tunnel. in connection with the repairs to Grant's tunnel, -Mr Kane's tender for cartage of material was accepted, being the lowest.
